About the Competition:
The World Rubik's Cube Championship was first held on June 5, 1982 in Budapest, Hungary, the birthplace of the Rubik's Cube.  The competition only had one event, which was one round of 3x3x3 speed solve in a best-of-3 format.  The winner was Minh Thai from the United States, with a single best time of 22.95 seconds.  It would be 21 years until the next World Championship was held in Toronto, Canada at the Ontario Science Center.

In an effort to make competitive cubing a more regular occurance with higher frequency than its previous 21 year cadence, Tyson Mao of the United States and Ron van Bruchem of The Netherlands formed the World Cube Association.  The first WCA event was held in 2004, and since then, the World Championship have been held every other year.

The World Rubik's Cube Championship is the premier competitive Rubik's Cube solving event in the world and features the top Rubik's Cube solvers around the world.  This year, our organizational team is proud to bring the 2013 event to Las Vegas, Nevada at the Riviera Hotel and Casino.

The competition is open to all competitors of all nationalities. No experience in WCA competitions is necessary, but competitors must familiar with the regulations.  The competition is open to all competitors regardless of experience and skill with the Rubik's Cube, but certain event-based time limits will be in place as explained on the events tab.  No registration is required for spectators.  Media personnel should contact the organizational staff regarding media opportunities.
